Park West Nursing & Rehab is constantly looking to improve ourselves to create a comfortable space for all residents, no matter what their background.
We attended a panel hosted by COPS (Coordinator of Patient Services), a volunteer organization founded in 1973 by a group of hospital-based professionals to build relationships, share knowledge of our services and to facilitate patient advocacy, support and communication.
This meeting was led by Ruben Rivera-Jackman, a certified trainer with the National Resource Center on LGBT Aging and Director of Resident Services at SHAG (Senior Housing Assistance Group). With Ruben’s guidance, we discussed how to offer inclusive services as well as learning how to identify strategies to create safe communities for LGBTQ Older Adults.
